Proper E-waste Management: How Do You Do That?

admin · January 21, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Have you ever had the feeling of excitement when you bought the latest smartphone on the market? You were like, “This is the most innovative phone that the industry showcases!” However, that is just temporary as the succeeding years bring newer phones and further tech innovation. People will eventually switch to the latest tech on the market. The question is, “what will happen to the old ones?”

Just what is e-waste?

E-waste is a classification of waste that consists of electronics that are obsolete or dysfunctional. These might be your old media players such as DVD players, VCR players, VHS tapes, CD players, rewinders, and more. As soon as you don’t find any value for your tech, it becomes e-waste.

Most of the time, it is quite difficult to recycle this kind of waste. The local government conducts e-waste collections in a year to repurpose old tech. However, not many residents in the neighborhood get their stored e-waste collected. Because of this, it remains at their homes without any use but consuming space. This means that residents have to wait for a long time just to dispose of their old tech.

Major retail players such as Best Buy and Walmart perform e-waste recycling programs to help the community. They collect unwanted or pre-owned tech items from homes and repurpose them for their sustainability programs. Also, there are active companies, such as Evergreen Junk Removal, that are ready anytime to provide service to their clients.

How do you properly manage e-waste?

You can only do so much about disposing of your pre-loved gadgets when you don’t find much use for them anymore. But how can you do it the right way? Here are some ideal suggestions for effective and proper e-waste management.

Resell your old tech. It is as simple as it sounds. It is not about the profit that you make from reselling your old phone or tablet. You also help another person by letting them have it and use it for a better purpose. Also, there are collectors out there who are looking for vintage tech that you might possess. Resell it for a high value. It is always another person’s treasure!

If the first one is not your cup of tea, why don’t you consider donating it to those who need it more than you do? Several charities accept donations from individuals, especially old hardware, computers, and video players. Charities give these donated tech items to schools for educational purposes.

If for some reason, you don’t have enough time to do those things, you might like assistance from junk removal companies. You can always give them a call if you need their services. Usually, they operate daily, so no problem with that.

Wrapping it all up

There are several ways to properly manage e-waste. It is just a matter of preference and convenience. If you find your old tech unusable, consider the mentioned choices and give one, two, or all of them a shot.
