Over on NextRead, Gav is has been having a Horror celebration this week, in honour of which I was a guest poster reviewing Michael Grant’s Gone. Here’s a little teaser:

Before we get to Gone, I have a little confession to make. I don’t do horror. I haven’t since I was ten. That’s when I saw the movie It or at least part of It. Enough of It to give me nightmares for days. In my early teens I tried Stephen King again, this time with Carrie, both the movie and the book, to the same results, so I gave up on it. This might also be why I’ve avoided zombie books, since for some reason they’re linked to horror in my mind. But this will be resolved in the near future, since I’m planning to read Alden Bell’s The Reapers Are The Angels. But back to Gone, one of my co-workers was super enthusiastic about it and lent me the book, so I decided to give it a try. I mean I’m a big girl now and shouldn’t be so easily scared right?….
